With today's electoral victory by Hamas, the world now has an unexpected opportunity to help bring about positive change in the Middle East. If Hamas, in fact, takes over the PA government, the U.S., Israel, Europe and all the major financial donors to the Palestinians (which is all that keeps them afloat) should announce a total and immediate cut-off of all aid and assistance to the Palestinian government until and unless Hamas explicitly renouces terrorism and violence, recognizes the State of Israel, and alters its Charter to this effect. A temporary "hudna" will not cut it. Maybe, just maybe, then, Hamas and the Palestinian people will get the message that terrorists cannot expect to take their places among civilized nations and be treated as equal partners in international society.
